"My Home Automation
I first got into Home Automation by accident
because I wanted to be
able to control my NTL Cable Box from the bedroom, as well as the Lounge.
This was a problem because these set top boxes use IrDA (as used with
laptop's etc) instead of normal Infrared, and therefore cannot be controlled
by normal infrared extenders or remotes.
Searching the web, quite by accident I came across Mark McCall's excellent Automated Home website.
It didn't throw any light on the NTL problem, but I was immediately hooked on the concept of an "Automated Home".
Following a link on Mark's website I came across the UK Home Automation Group on Yahoo, and it's spin-off groups covering a multitude of Home Automation Projects.
And the rest, as they say, is history. Or rather, the future.
This website is an attempt to share my experiences of "automating" my home, mainly using the Home Automation Protocol
and is the home of and xPLMyHouse
Note: Please remember that this website is under development, and therefore is incomplete at this time.
